加拿大攝影師EDWARD BURTYNSKY十七年來在世界各地的採集場和工程，紀錄這些巧妙的採集技術和眼花撩亂的物品成分。
“為了建設我們的城市，我們挖掘地球上的物質”，愛德華透過這些華麗而雄偉的影像，在鏡頭的解構下，催促著作為觀眾的我們思考 : 為了這世界某一處的建築物，這一處的景觀正在遭到破壞。
影像讓我想起了，賈樟柯的《三峽好人》一片，面對的中國大陸工業發展現況。

《MANUFACTURED LANDSCAPES》由Jennifer Baichwal拍攝的相關紀錄片。
The film follows Burtynsky to China as he travels the country photographing the evidence and effects of that country’s massive industrial revolution. Sites such as the Three Gorges Dam, which is bigger by 50% than any other dam in the world and displaced over a million people, factory floors over a kilometre long, and the breathtaking scale of Shanghai’s urban renewal are subjects for his lens and our motion picture camera.
